Moment for a snowy day

Since it snowed in Seattle today, I figured I would show you a video of how Yong is spending his time in the British Virgin Islands....

Maremoto FC 4 - 5 Turf Burn

Although this game may not have been the best of the season so far, it sure was a fun one! Michael drew first blood with a goal by following the ball that bounced back from the wall. Maremoto stayed focused and energetic in the first half dominating it 3-1. Beth, who claims to have been injured, played an amazing game scoring two goals, including a beautiful header to avoid further injury to her knee.

Turf Burn's energy started to outlast Maremoto and they ended up coming from behind. Captain Nic kept the team in the game with numerous saves and even set up many goal oppurtunities with his numerous passes. Michael finished off the night for Maremoto with one last goal. In the end Maremoto couldn't quite pull off the win and lost 4 to 5.

Player of the Game: Beth and Nic. Beth for being tough while being injured and still scoring 2 goals. Nic for keeping the team motivated while saving shots during the game.

Some lessons learned: Be dilegent about spreading out in the defense and marking your players in order to not leave opponents wide open. Continue to help each other with passing throughout the game.

Maremoto 5 - 7 The Crazy 88

Maremoto took on one of the best teams in the league last night and played strong all night long. The first half was dominated by Michael in offense scoring the first two goals. First, he dribbled across the field and had a beautiful shot on the wall. He also picked up the ball in the air, reversed, and passed the defender to shoot another one on the wall. Keeper Burak fought off numerous shots to hold The Crazy 88 to only 3 goals in the 1st half.

The second half didn’t start out as well with The Crazy 88 scoring 4 more goals in the beginning of the second half. Although Lauren, Marie, and Diego had opportunities, the goal seemed cursed and didn't allow any in. The Crazy 88 was leading 7-2, when Yong subbed in and was fired up! Yong scored a goal from the far right side minutes after he stepped on the field. Michael followed with two more goals, while Vivian and Sarah held the defense not allowing The Crazy 88 to score any goals during the last 10 minutes of the game.

Goal and player of the game: Yong’s long shot from far right field…wish we could have got that one on video!

Video footage of Maremoto's 8-1 win

These are 2 of the 17 movies taken by my father-in-law, Daihua Tang, during the game, showing a nice strike from Sarah, and Lauren's pressure on FC Lightenin's own goal. Please see my email for the rest of the videos. It's cool when you see yourself playing!

Maremoto FC 4-9 Cortisone Shooters

It definitely appeared as if the Cortisone Shooters were shooting some sort of energy into their system Friday night leaving Maremoto with very few chances to actually score any goals. Their lightening fast offence was difficult for Maremoto to control and thankfully Yong was in the goal box defending the shots from every direction as best as he could. Katherine and Vivian also helped in defense trying to cover the three aggressive Cortisone men as they darted around the field.

With a female goal keeper, the Maremoto men had to be crafty when scoring goals. The first Maremoto goal in the first half came from Michael with a fast low kick from almost midfield. He scored another in the same fashion in the second half. Diego also helped out with 2 goals in the second half to end the game 4 to 9.

Thanks very much to Lauren for writing up this summary ...

Maremoto FC 8 - 1 FC Lightning

Who would have thought the best Maremoto FC game was yet to come? The team started the game with a solid defense, a productive offense and the best goal keeper of the history of the Maremoto. While Lauren, Yong and Michael were carving the FC Lightning defense, Vivian, Sarah and Beth were defending the speedy Lightning forwards. Maremoto shut-out the Lightning in the first half with goals from Yong and Michael (2).

There was a suspicion of an FC Lightning rally in the second half with their first goal, yet, even the extra player did not help them come back. Michael and Yong anchored the defense and helped Maremoto subs start attacking from everywhere. Lauren, Sam, Sarah, Vasily and Beth put final touch on the victorious Maremoto win, 8-1!

The video of highlights of the game are now being distributed in China.

Player of the game award goes to Sarah, she dribbled and help carry the mid field.
