No snake phobia

Our fearless goal keeper Yong the Great Wall of China has taken a big step towards his snake phobia. We are hoping that we will also go over our fear against loosing and win this week's game. Beat the Gunners!

Maremoto FC 4 - 1 Point Break

Coming off from good games against Cobra Kai and Seattle Children, team Maremoto was ready for the tough game against Point Break and anything other than a win would have been a disappointment. Point Break was not going to go down with out a fight and it was a tough game for Maremoto with the depleted roster. Both teams played a great first half, but Maremoto was able to spread out in the offense and keep the defense more organized. Point Break was shut out with goals from Diego and Michael in the first half and despite Marie, Sarah and Lauren didn't have any subs, Point Break's lone goal came during the garbage time, while Maremoto was leading 3-0 with 5 minutes left on the clock. Michael continued his scoring streak with a hat trick, and Maremoto had scored 54 against the 57 goals this season. The next game against the Gunners will be a tough one, but if we played the way we played in the last part of the season, I have no doubt that we will finish the season with more goals then that were scored against us.
Player of the game, Marie, Sarah and Lauren had to play the entire game, but they were up to the challenge and they were able to outrun the Point Break offense.

Maremoto FC 8 - 8 Seattle Children's FC

Maremoto started off the game in a good position Thursday evening. Seattle Children's didn't have enough women so we graciously loaned them Marie for the evening. Although Marie did assist in a Seattle Children's goal we won't hold that against her.

Michael and Diego started off the game with a bang each scoring a goal in the first couple of minutes. Sarah also had a beautiful goal right over the goalie's head after she passed to herself off the wall. Seattle Children didn't let our lead get them down and scored of a couple of goals by passing to shooters in the middle of the goal box, beyond goalie Yong's control. Substitute player, Adriana was an excellent addition to our team last night scoring a goal with a power shot from the corner in the first half.

Maremoto's lead was taken away from them in the second half, but we stayed strong with another goal from Diego, Michael and Adriana. The score was 7-8 in the last minute until Michael pulled through and scored the game tying goal in the last 30 seconds. Special thanks goes out to Marie's "invisible" friend, Beatrice, who goal kept for Maremoto during the second half allowing Yong to show his power on the field. To all of you who didn't attend the game...YES...Beatrice does exist and her and her daughter Adriana undoubtedly helped Maremoto power through this high scoring tied game.

Maremoto FC 12 - 5 Cobra Kai

The earliest Sport Arena game of all time started with 5 on 5. Cobra Kai and Maremoto had an intense start. Yong helped Maremoto take an early lead with his two cunning goals, but Cobra Kai rallied back to 4-3. After Michael's response with three straight goals, Maremoto took the lead for good and separated itself apart from the other team. In the second half Maremoto's speedy offense took the stage against a worn out Cobra Kai by scoring 8 unanswered goals. Michael scored season high five, Yong scored two in the first half and had an amazing goal keeping in the second half, and Sarah, Andrea, Enrique, Diego and Burak all scored one goal each. While Vivian stopping the violent Cobra Kai attacks, Sam was setting goals for our forward in the midfield.

While Michael was the offensive MVP of the game with five goals this game and 50% of the goals the entire season, Vivian never left the defense and played the entire game as the defensive MVP.

Maremoto FC 2 - 7 Ich Liebe

Because some of our players didn't show up on time (including myself), Ich Liebe took the quick 3-0 lead, until Yong made his presence. Yong took advantage of a wall pass to endorse the people who supported him on the poll by scoring the team's first goal. Marie anchored the defense with her efforts and help from Vivian, Beth and Andrea. Meanwhile Michael scored the second goal to continue his streak. He has scored at least one goal in every game this season. Despite the difference in the final score, the game stayed within two goals difference thanks to Nic's incredible saves. Ich Liebe's late rally at the end of the second half provided some distance for Maremoto to cover.
Special thanks to great efforts by Vasily and Sam, cheering by Mick, Diego and John, and coaching by Yogi . This was the Maremoto's lowest scoring game of the season with two goals. Maremoto has averaged 4.3 goals a game and has allowed 6.1 goals a game, so far.

Player of the game: Andrea helped the defense and the midfield with her limitless effort, and she even had couple of good shots in the offense.
